Founder Statement
“I became acutely aware of the gaps in healthcare, support and access experienced by marginalised communities.”
As a Black queer man openly living with HIV, my journey has shaped my understanding of health equity, wellbeing, intersectionality and the importance of culturally competent communication. Following my HIV diagnosis at 25, I became acutely aware of the gaps in healthcare, support and access experienced by marginalised communities.
My academic and professional background in psychology, public health and the arts has deepened my understanding of the social, cultural and structural factors influencing health and wellbeing.
Over the years, I have developed health initiatives to improve awareness and access, reduce stigma, and empower communities — collaborating across public health, clinical, academic, creative and grassroots sectors, combining strategic communication, research-informed practice and lived experience.
TAF Collective CIC integrates these experiences through an interdisciplinary, community-centred approach, developing accessible, culturally relevant and forward-thinking solutions for underserved populations.
Our Name
Work to do
TAF stands for Travail À Faire — French for “work to do”. It is both our founder’s initials and our mandate: an honest acknowledgement that health equity is unfinished business.
The name holds us to account. Until marginalised communities are visible, valued and shaping the systems that affect their lives — there is work to do.
Our Ethos
These three pillars form both our ethos and our operational framework — guiding how we create, communicate and collaborate.
Truth is defined as evidence that is grounded in lived reality.
Authenticity is to exist wholly and without fragmentation.
Freedom is the capacity to exist fully without justification.
Vision
We envision a future where marginalised and underrepresented communities are central to health and wellbeing discussions. Communities disproportionately affected by stigma, exclusion and systemic barriers will be visible, valued, and actively shape the systems, services and narratives that impact their lives.
We believe individuality, intersectionality and cultural identity are essential for improving health and wellbeing, empowering individuals, advancing health equity and reducing stigma.
Motion
TAF Collective CIC integrates creativity, culture, psychology, scientific evidence and lived experience to transform how communities experience health, wellbeing, communication and care.
Through interdisciplinary approaches that cross traditional boundaries, we create more inclusive, accessible and culturally competent ways to engage communities. We are committed to collective healing, equitable access, informed choice, and the goal of zero new HIV transmissions.
